I am delighted to be able to tell you that we have an exciting event coming up at Kinloss Abbey on May 14th. We have another foraging day with Anna Canning from Floramedica and she will be joined this time by Dr Brian Moffat who made all those exciting discoveries at Soutra.
There are two practical foraging sessions at the Abbey, one from 10 -12 and the other from 2 – 4. Booking is essential as we have to limit numbers. Please email your requests to info@kinlossabbey.org. Cost is £10, payable on the day.
There will also be an evening session at Kinloss Church from 7 – 9 p.m. when Anna and Brian will give an illustrated talk with lots of sampling of plants. Brian will share insights from Soutra and how they may inform our understanding of the old physic garden remains at the Abbey. Notes to accompany the session will be provided by email after the event. Refreshments are included and the cost is £10 per head. No booking necessary.
In its heyday the orchards and gardens of Kinloss Abbey were renowned. The Cistercian monks under abbots like Richard Reid would have used the produce of these for nutrition, medicine and much more.
I do hope you will come and join us for what will be a fascinating insight into the healing power of plants.
